Our StoryOregon's organic community is made up of farmers, food businesses, nonprofits, researchers, and advocates, all doing important work on their own. OOC is what connects it all into something bigger. For 20 years we've been the coalition that shows up when Oregon's organic sector needs a voice, a network, or a push in the right direction.
Grow
Oregon's organic sector is one of the most diverse in the country, and it's still expanding. OOC works to make sure that growth continues, by promoting Oregon organic to consumers and policymakers, supporting projects that help farmers transition to organic, and highlighting the economic value of organic agriculture to the state of Oregon.
Organic is good for people, good for the planet, and good for the economy. We make sure the people who need to hear that do.
Protect
Organic standards, practices, and the integrity behind the label are worth defending, and that's a big part of what OOC does. We monitor policy at the state and federal level that could affect Oregon's organic farmers and businesses, keep our members informed when something important is moving through Salem or Washington, and lend our collective voice when it matters.
OOC has spent 20 years building relationships with legislators, agencies, and organizations so that when organic needs to be at the table, we're already in the room.
Connect
One of the things we hear most from members is that being part of OOC means being part of a community. Organic farming and food business can be isolating work. OOC brings people together, through events, networking, and a statewide network of farmers, businesses, and advocates who are pushing in the same direction.
Whether you're a small grain farmer on the east side of the Cascades or a food distributor in the Willamette Valley, there's a place for you in this coalition.
